On the book recommendation level, I have to say, Cosmicomics by Italo Calvino is my favorite of all time. About a dude named Qfwfq who's been alive since the beginning of the Universe and also seems very Italian. At various points he lives as a dinosaur, anemone, etc--though it's not anywhere as close to as trite as it sounds. The book is short, if you get the original, not the new rounded out one. A mind like yours would love it.
